Screen 9 - The Last

The last 35mm set up to be left running was screen number 9, left down at the end of the box all by itself you could tell it was getting lonely. The last show to run in 35mm was EDGE OF DARKNESS starring Australian acting legend Melvin Gibson...

Here's a group of shots looking down the box towards screens 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 from before the new equipment was delivered to the first day all the projectors were up and running together with all green lights showing on top! (see last pic!)

Screens

Due to the RealD 3D process used to show 3D in screens 2, 4 and 6 we needed to change the old white screens to silver screens. As the screens were coming down to do this it was decided to enlarge to screen sizes in 4 and 6 to give a larger image size...

Here's a before shot of screen 4 followed by an after shot of the same screen after enlargment and with silver screen in place (to judge the increased size note the grills in front of the screen and their placement in both images)


Screen 2 - The First

Screen 2 was the first to have it's new Sony 4K projector installed. After sitting patiently under wraps for a few days it was time to get them uncovered and set up...

All new amplifiers and Dolby CP750 processors were fitted throughout...




Ready to go, with RealD 3D lens in place...

Work begins

Day 1 saw the removal of screen 2 and 4's projection equipment, plus the removal of the white screens in the auditorium so they could be replaced with the silver screens needed to show the RealD 3D on.
